Few brands on the road today have a heritage as rich and distinguished as Jaguar, a company founded in 1922 by William Lyons, a man whose original vision was to design motorcycle sidecars with his Swallow Sidecar Company. By 1927, Sir Lyons had progressed to building special-bodied cars, which in 1931 resulted in the launch of the legendary SS1 - a car which set the stage for the first true Jaguar. As the range improved and expanded, it needed a name to reflect its speed, power and sleekness and in 1935 the Jaguar name was born.
During World War II, the company also diversified into aircraft design and production techniques. The post-war launches of Jaguar's XK120 and Mark VII cars solidified the company's already sterling reputation. The company followed this up with many years of success in competitive auto racing, notably at Le Mans, which proved definitively that Jaguar equalled performance. To which, the growing numbers of Jaguar owners would add comfort and driving pleasure.
Recent years have seen a flurry of new developments at Jaguar, aimed as always at improving and modernizing the Jaguar product range. Revised versions of the X-Type and S-Type vehicles have been introduced, as have aluminum-framed and long wheelbase model cars. Jaguar vehicles are still manufactured exclusively at the company's U.K. plant and nowhere else.
The tradition of excellence has been perpetuated in each new generation of Jaguars. Each of our vehicles remains true to Sir Lyons' vision of offering drivers a harmonious combination of style, luxury and performance.
